Why do translations take so long?

To give you some perspective below is a visual representation of what the translation process looks like.  Quality translations take time.  Sometimes, it is necessary to do a third or fourth draft depending on the complexity, context of the document being translated and the target audience.
Often, there is a misconception that translations can be made literally or word for word.  One cannot simply use Google Translate. Although, Google Translate can be helpful at times. However, when translating words or simple phrases, sales, marketing, and especially creative translations require knowledge of the culture, dialects, expressions and sayings in both languages. Translations into Spanish or any other language require thoughtful consideration to be able to communicate the original idea or concept into the target language.
Native Spanish-speaking people living in the United States are faced with a multitude of companies trying to reach them in their language, which is great. However, more often than not, messages or materials are translated incorrectly, some even use Spanglish!  Hispanic consumers living in the United States appreciate when brands and companies take the time to speak to them in their native language. According to an article from Media Post in April of 2014, Hispanics are one of the most brand loyal consumers in the marketplace. The loyalty of these consumers depends on how you successfully tap into what is determining their purchasing decisions. Having culturally relevant and accurate translations is key in gaining brand loyalty and increasing sales.
That's where we can help.

Translation Project Considerations

A general misconception in translating documents is pricing per word. If only it were that simple. Below are some factors and considerations for each translation project.
  • Number of Words or Size of Project
    • In general, the text translated from English to Spanish will expand by about 20%.
    • Alternatively,  Spanish to English translation text will contract by around 20%.
  • Document Type
    • Our specialties are in the Marketing and Advertising fields.
    • General texts which are fairly simple will be the least expensive while Engineering, Pharmaceutical, and Legal texts usually are the more costly.
  • Format Complexity
  • Deliverable Timeline
